Franklin Water Plant
The Franklin Water Plant is staffed 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The average amount of
water treated by the Water Plant during the cooler months is 1.7 million gallons a day.
Whereas, in the warmer months, the amount of water treated goes up to around 2.2 million
gallons a day.

Over 120 different contaminants are tested for by an independent laboratory to meet EPA guidelines. Every day, the water is tested in the distribution system at specific locations for chlorine residuals. Twice a month, specific sites in the distribution system are tested for bacteria. The amount of Bacteria samples that are pulled is based on population. The Franklin Water Plant collects 16 samples a month. Also, Lead & Copper sampling and testing at approved EPA sites is performed every summer. If you ever have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
