The City of Franklin is currently accepting resumes for a Finance Director.   Requires bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field, Certified Public Accountant licensure desired and, preferably, at least 5 to 7 years’ experience in governmental accounting or equivalent; demonstrated background as a supervisor or in management; municipal budget development; project management, superior leadership/team-building skills, and excellent communication abilities. Working Title:  Director of Finance

Position Classification:  Range 1, Grade*


Characteristics of Class:


Supervisory position involving responsible office management and fiscal work relating to the receipt, deposit, custody, and disbursement of city funds and preparation and management of the budget


Examples of Duties:


Supervises the receipt of daily cash and cash reports from various revenue sources.  Supervises or participates in the distribution of receipts to proper funds and the preparation of cash reports and the maintenance of records relating to bank deposits and withdrawals.  Establishes, directs, and administers business methods and systems employed.  Supervises the maintenance of internal control on account receivables.  Receives and adjusts details incidental to the activities of the office.  Maintains internal control over receipts and deposits city monies in banks.  Prepares financial statements for City Commission.  Plans, directs, and participates in bookkeeping and accounting operations.  Prepares and manages the budget, subject to the review and approval of the City Manager.


Position Qualifications: 


Training and Experience- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field with experience in a supervisory position.


Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Thorough knowledge of municipal accounting principles and practices.  Ability to initiate and follow through on a progressive municipal financial program.  Ability to plan and supervise the work of others.  Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with others.  Thorough knowledge of accounting practices and principles.  Good communication skills.
