Steps For Official Sworn Citizen Complaint
Citizen completes a
Sworn Official Written Complaint with a Police Supervisor, against
Police Officer.
Sworn complaint against Officer is forwarded to Internal Affairs and is
assigned to Supervisor for investigation.
Internal Affairs Supervisor investigates and documents findings of
Sworn Complaint in written form. (Non-criminal.)
Internal
Affairs Supervisor maps our findings of the investigation and makes a
policy and procedure recommendation concerning the Sworn Complaint.
Sworn
Complaint is forwarded to the Chief of Police for adjudication, where
he agrees or disagrees with Internal Affairs investigation and
recommendation.
If "founded" the Chief of Police recommends
level of disciplinary action, if any, against Officer to the City
Manager and City Commission
City Commission hands down ruling and sworn complaint is totally
adjudicated. (Court action may be pending.)
